New HUAWEI innovation in the EV market

Several reports stated that the company has developed a "solid-state EV battery" that can deliver a 3,000-kilometer driving range with just a five-minute charge.

Although considered in the early stage, The Economic Times reported that the technology was already "far beyond" Tesla’s current system, which takes 15 minutes to 30 minutes for partial charges.

Tesla, backed by US billionaire Elon Musk, has been one of the leaders in the global EV market. It has been expanding its reach outside America.

As HUAWEI and other Chinese EV players threaten Tesla's market share even further, its stock has recorded a slight decline.

However, the report from The Economic Times said that HUAWEI's patent is currently lab-based and has yet to be tested at a large-scale production. Experts also cited the high costs of materials, which could make the EV units more expensive than those available on the market.

But this move from HUAWEI signals its intent to become a key player in this space, the report noted.
