Chinese tech giant HUAWEI today launched the company's second-generation tri-fold smartphone.
HUAWEI Mate XTs

Faster, better, and more affordable

The new HUAWEI Mate XTs features a massive 10.2-inch X-True LTPO display. It has a 16:11 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, 3K 3184 x 2232 resolution with up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness.

To make the tri-fold possible, the display supports two hinges. With these, it can transform into a 7.9-inch medium-sized tablet and a fairly handy 6.4-inch smartphone.

The look of it is similar to the first Mate XT we were able to hands on earlier this year, but the internals and cameras were upgraded.

The first major change is that it now sports the new Kirin 9020 chip, an upgrade over the 9010 last year. Together with its HarmonyOS 5.1 operating system, the company said that it offers a 36 percent improvement in performance.

Then, it now has a 40MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera with 2.5cm macro capabilities coming from just 12MP.

Other cameras include the 50MP f/1.4~4.0 RYYB primary sensor with OIS and the 12MP 5.5x optical zoom with up to 50x digital zoom.

For selfies, users will get an 8MP experience.

There are new colors, tooWhite and Purple.

The battery is still the same, a 5,600mAh silicon anode with 66W USB-C HUAWEI SuperCharge and 50W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge. It also supports the HUAWEI M-Pencil stylus and could be paired with a Bluetooth keyboard.
