More advanced compact drone

DJI has introduced the Neo 2, a miniature drone weighing 151 grams, designed for portability and user-friendly operation.

The model is the lightest in the company's lineup to feature omnidirectional obstacle sensing. It also includes new gesture controls, an upgraded ActiveTrack system, and a SelfieShot mode intended for quick, everyday video and photo capture.
The design

A small display located next to the camera indicates the current shooting mode. Meanwhile, the drone can take off directly from a user’s palm by facing the camera toward themselves and pressing the takeoff button. A Return to Palm feature guides the drone back to the user's hand for landing.

One of the primary new features is Gesture Control. Holding up one palm allows the user to direct the drone left, right, or adjust its altitude.

Using both palms moves the drone closer or farther away based on hand movement. The camera angle can also be adjusted without a physical remote.

Voice commands are processed through a connected smartphone or Bluetooth headphones. For extended range, the drone can be paired with the DJI RC N3 controller, which provides up to 10 kilometers of video transmission.
The features

The Neo 2 is compatible with DJI’s motion controller and goggles for a first-person view (FPV) setup. It is equipped with a 12-megapixel, 1/2-inch CMOS sensor, an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-axis gimbal for image stabilization.

It can record 4K video at up to 100 frames per second for slow-motion playback and supports 2.7K vertical video recording. Using ActiveTrack and SelfieShot, the drone can automatically frame subjects and switch between waist-up, full-body, and long shots. In open areas, it can track subjects at speeds up to 12 meters per second and follow movement in eight directions, including diagonally.

The drone includes pre-programmed shot modes such as Dolly Zoom, QuickShots, and MasterShots, with presets like Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang for simplified video creation.

For beginner pilots, the Neo 2 incorporates omnidirectional monocular vision, forward-facing LiDAR, and downward infrared sensors for obstacle detection. Built-in propeller guards provide additional protection. Stability in hovering and positioning has been improved for flight in indoor environments or near buildings and water.

The drone offers wind resistance up to level 5, a maximum flight time of 19 minutes, and 49 GB of internal storage. Recorded footage can be transferred to the DJI Fly app via Wi-Fi at speeds up to 80 MB per second.
