HUAWEI MatePad Edge unveiled—promising new Surface challenger

Chinese tech titan HUAWEI also recently unveiled the MatePad Edge.

HUAWEI MatePad Edge is now official!

The new HUAWEI MatePad Edge is a laptop with a tablet-like form factor, which probably drew inspiration from the Microsoft Surface devices.

It arrived in a solid unibody aluminum frame measuring just 6.85mm and weighing 789 grams, available in Space Gray and Bright Moon Silver colors.

In front, it sports a 14.2-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3.1K 3120 x 2080 resolution, ΔE < 1 color accuracy, and 1,000 nits peak brightness.

The device also has a 175-degree adjustable hinge, allowing its display to be placed at different angles.

Some use cases of the MatePad Edge

Under the hood, the tablet/PC hybrid is powered by either Kirin X90 or X90A, the company's self-developed chips. According to the company, it has 3.8x performance improvement over the previous generation Kirin T92 SoC and has a performance comparable to Apple M5.

It is paired with 16GB to 32GB RAM, 256GB to 2TB internal storage, and a 12,900mAh battery capacity with USB-C 140W charging support.

The device also has an option for liquid cooling and dual vapor chambers.

This also has the M-Pencil Pro stylus support for the creatives and an optional keyboard accessory with 1.8mm key travel and a pressure-sensitive touchpad.

Other specs include a 50MP f/1.8 back camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide shooter.

For selfies and video calls, it has a 32MP shooter. The MatePad Edge also has a six-speaker (6) setup and four microphones (4).
