The successor to Chromebooks?

Qualcomm has expanded its Snapdragon X series computer chips, with the latest Snapdragon X2 chips announced last September.

Devices featuring these chips are anticipated to launch in Windows laptops beginning in spring 2026.

The company is now reportedly developing support for the Android operating system on its X series architecture. This move signals a potential future expansion of Android into the laptop market.

This development aligns with Google's broader initiative to integrate its ChromeOS and Android platforms. The potential emergence of a standardized Android version for laptops represents a significant shift in an operating system segment that has seen limited change in recent years.

While Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chips have gained traction in Windows devices, their adaptation for Android laptops could alter competitive dynamics in the computer industry.

The success of such devices is expected to depend heavily on the user interface and experience delivered by the software.
