vivo S50 launched: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 6,500mAh battery, 50MP 3x optical zoom

Following the debut of the compact Vivo S50 Pro Mini, vivo has introduced the standard Vivo S50 model.

The device emphasizes a capable camera system, a large battery, and high performance chip.

In terms of design, the vivo S50 features a flat-front and flat-back construction with rounded corners, drawing visual comparisons to earlier iPhone models. It is available in Space Black, Confession White, Serene Blue, and Inspirational Purple.

Moreover, the device also sports IP68 dust and water resistance for added protection.

For the display, it is equipped with a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen featuring a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 4320Hz PWM dimming, and a peak brightness rated up to 5000 nits.

Powering the device is the 3.0GHz 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, supported by configurations of up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The features

The phone houses a 6,500mAh battery with USB-C 90W wired FlashCharging. 

The camera system consists of a triple rear setup: a 50MP f/1.88 main sensor with OIS + a 50MP f/2.65 3x periscope telephoto lens + 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor with a 110-degree FOV. The front-facing camera is a 50MP shooter with autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture.

Additional features include stereo speakers for immersive audio. 

Connectivity options include WiFi 6, 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and dual SIM.

vivo S50 12GB/256GB - CNY 2,999 (around PHP 25K)

vivo S50 16GB/256GB - CNY 3,299 (around PHP 27.5K)

vivo S50 12GB/512GB - CNY 3,399 (around PHP 28.3K)

The phone is going to be available in China beginning December 19. No word yet if it will be released in the Philippines.
