The end of an era?

In early January 2026, we reported that ASUS had no plans to release a new smartphone in 2026, according to DIGITIMES Asia.

During the company's '2025 Year-End Gala', Taiwanese publication Inside reports that the ASUS chairman confirms the sad news. When asked about the move, he said that "ASUS will no longer add new mobile phone models in the future," further adding that the company will "continue to take care of the brand's smartphone users."

9to5Google interprets this as either exiting the smartphone market altogether or just ending the development of smartphone models beyond the existing line-up.

The company has reallocated its resources that was previously spent on mobile phones to bolster "commercial PCs and physical AI devices, including AI Robot, Robotics, and AI Glasses."
