According to a report from DIGITIMES Asia from Taipei, Taiwan, electronics firm, ASUS, won't release a new smartphone this year (2026).

No ASUS phone this year

The information allegedly came from local agents stating that the company's smartphone unit will operate only through 2025.

This means that the Zenfone 12 Ultra will not have a follow-up this year. ROG Phone fans will also not get the gaming-focused upgrade to the ROG Phone 9 Series.

However, ASUS told DIGITIMES Asia that it will continue and that maintenance, software upgrades, and warranty services for all existing products will be provided.

It was not specified why the company won't release a phone this year, but it is likely reallocating resources to other business units that generate higher revenue.

Once a notable mobile player, particularly in Southeast Asia, and had a strong presence here in the Philippines, ASUS clearly struggled against the competition from Chinese smartphone brands.

Nevertheless, the news comes as a blow to fans (including us), since ASUS has long been known for its competitive edge in smartphone gaming.
