The compatibility, first introduced last year for the Pixel 10 series, is expected to roll out more widely later this year.

Engineering Vice President Eric Kay confirmed the expansion, noting that successful testing on the Pixel 10 series demonstrated the ability to share files across iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Google is currently working with partners to adapt the feature for additional Android handsets.

A shift in distribution earlier signaled Google's intent for wider availability. The company moved the Quick Share Extension from a system application to a standalone APK on Google Play, suggesting the feature would not remain exclusive to Pixel hardware.

In the meantime, some manufacturers, including OPPO and Xiaomi, have already implemented their own cross-platform sharing solutions within their latest operating systems.
