HONOR 400 Pro 5G shots after Android 16 update

As it is expected to receive the newest software updates, during our trip to Jersey, United Kingdom, our HONOR 400 Pro finally got the latest update to Android 16.

Of course, we have to try it and see how much it has improved—especially its cameras. So keep on reading for our UK photo samples.

Specifically, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G sports a triple camera setup at the back with a 200MP f/1.9 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP 3x telephoto with OIS, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with a 112-degree field of view.

Then, for selfies, we get a 50MP f/2.0 portrait camera.

The stock camera app features Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, Pro, Aperture, Multi-Video, Slow-Mo, Panorama, Time-lapse, Stickers, Super Macro, High-res, Night Video, Story, Stage, and Scan Document.

Daylight HDR snap

Under daylight or good lighting, its standard mode often performs with balanced brightness, a good amount of sharpness, and oftentimes a clean-looking HDR render.

We like that it looks subtly professional with a nice bokeh effect when you tap to focus on subjects.

Zooming in, even at 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x zoom, the photos look crisp and vibrant. The quality doesn’t seem to be lacking from the 1x default mode.

Maximizing it til 50x will, of course, lower the quality, yet AI greatly enhances the image to make sure that details are still recognizable. It's not bad!

The HONOR 400 Pro's portrait mode managed to detect subjects easily and separate them from their environments. We often get a strong blur effect that can even be adjusted in the camera app.

For low-light to night photography, the phone was able to capture lights vividly. There is minimal grain; nonetheless majority of the shots are still truly clear with great shadows.

Moving on to its front cam, selfies from its 50MP f/2.0 portrait lens seem higher quality than when it was under Android 15.

It now produces near professional-looking shots with a smooth touch on the skin, yet doesn't look artificial at all. We also found it balanced on skin tones that’s not too warm or cool. It's recommended for social media postings.

Quick thoughts

Compared to how it used to perform with Android 15, I can say that the Android 16 update truly added improvements in the camera section.

From lenses that perform like an average midrange smartphone, the HONOR 400 Pro leveled up to an almost premium-tier-performing camera device. Its new AI features are also convenient for quick editing on-the-go.
