Two mid-range this year but no flagship

Details have emerged regarding Nothing's upcoming mid-range smartphones following earlier comments by CEO Carl Pei, who described the devices as a "complete evolution" without providing specifics.

According to industry leakster Yogesh Brar, the Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro are scheduled for a global launch in early March, with March 5 cited as the most likely date.

The leak aligns with the company's confirmation of an upgrade to UFS 3.1 storage, moving from the UFS 2.2 standard used in the previous (3a) series. Reports suggest this change may contribute to a price increase for the new models.

Both phones are expected to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series chipsets, though the exact models remain unconfirmed. While Pei has indicated improvements to the display, cameras, and overall performance, specific details on these upgrades are not yet available.

Regulatory filings indicate a slight increase in battery capacity, with the Pro model listed at 5,080mAh, compared to the 5,000mAh battery in its predecessor. Both batteries maintain a 1,400-cycle rating and 50W wired charging.

The European EPREL database also shows an improved ingress protection rating for the Pro model, moving from IP64 to IP65.

With Nothing confirming it will not release a flagship device this year, the commercial performance of the Phone (4a) series takes on increased significance for the company's 2024 lineup.
