Mate Series comeback after 3 years?

HUAWEI is set to officially introduce the Mate 80 Pro, marking the return of its flagship Mate series after roughly three years.

Exclusive preview events are scheduled on April 11–12 and April 18–19 at 3PM in select Huawei Experience Stores, where interested customers may register for VIP access ahead of the launch.

The Mate 80 Pro is offered in multiple color options and carries the premium design language the Mate line is known for.  Additionally, the phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The handset features a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2832 x 1280 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The screen includes 1440Hz PWM dimming and a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass.

On the performance side, HUAWEI has yet to confirm the chipset for the global variant. The Chinese market version, however, ships with the Kirin 9030 Pro processor — the same chip found in the Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design — paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The device is equipped with a 5,750mAh battery and supports 100W wired fast charging as well as 80W wireless fast charging.

For photography, the Mate 80 Pro sports a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera with variable aperture ranging from F1.4 to F4.0, a 40MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 48MP macro telephoto lens.

The setup supports 4x optical zoom, up to 100x digital zoom, and 8K video recording. On the front, a 13MP camera handles selfies and supports 4K video.

Connectivity options include dual SIM with 4G support, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC. Additional features include 3D face unlock, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and an infrared sensor.

Again, you may visit the nearest HUAWEI Experience Stores in your area from April 11-12 or April 18-19.
