Consoles are getting more expensive

Nintendo has announced price increases for the Switch 2 across multiple markets, effective September 1.

In the United States, the console will rise from USD 449.99 to 499.99 (around PHP 30.4K)—a USD 50 increase. Similar adjustments are planned for Canada (CAD 50) and Europe (EUR 40).

On the other hand, Japan will see the change take effect earlier, on May 25. The company attributed the decision to "changes in market conditions."

The announcement comes alongside Nintendo's latest sales figures. The Switch 2 moved 19.86 million units in its first full fiscal year — outpacing the original Switch, which sold 15.05 million units in its comparable period.

However, Nintendo has forecast a decline in the year ahead, projecting sales of 16.5 million units, a figure analysts may link to the upcoming price increases.

No information yet for the Philippine market at the moment. We will let you know once the Switch 2 prices here start going up.

What do you guys think?
