A huge impact on gamers?
Sony Interactive Entertainment will implement price increases for its PlayStation 5 console lineup across several Southeast Asian markets beginning May 1, 2026.
The adjustment follows similar increases that the company rolled out in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan earlier in April.
The company cited ongoing global economic pressures as the primary driver behind the decision, stating that the adjustment is intended to sustain product quality and continued investment in gaming innovation.
The regional price changes affect different product configurations depending on the country. In the Philippines and Vietnam, only the standard PS5 model will see a price update, while consumers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia will also see revised pricing for the PS5 Pro and the PlayStation Portal remote player.

The latest changes are part of a broader global repricing effort by Sony. In April, the PS5 was priced at $649.99 in the United States, £569.99 in the United Kingdom, €649.99 in Europe, and ¥97,980 in Japan.
Before the May 1 effective date, local retailers in the Philippines, such as DataBlitz and GameOne, were still listing the standard PS5 Slim Disc edition at approximately PHP30,790 — a notable difference from the incoming official price.
New Official PS5 Prices in Southeast Asia (Effective May 1, 2026):
- Philippines - PS5 - PHP 40,032
- Singapore PS5 - SGD 849, PS5 Pro - SGD 1,167, Portal - SGD 347

How the price adjustments will affect consumer demand and console adoption rates across the region remains to be seen.
