Xiaomi beefs up EV portfolio with SkyNomad launch
China's Xiaomi has further strengthened its name in the booming electric vehicle (EV) market, with the introduction of a large-family SUV segment.

This developed as the Chinese giant hopes to regain momentum for its business unit following softer six-month vehicle deliveries, according to a report.
Consumers' appetite could also be attributed to concerns about a weak global economy.
But Xiaomi is confident about this recent launch, dubbed Xiaomi SkyNomad Series, as it boasts about its "expansive interior space, a completely flat cabin floor, and reconfigurable seating."
The new models are likewise equipped with Xiaomi Kunlun HyperRange, Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery, and Xiaomi Kunlun Total Safety.
Across space, safety, intelligence, driving dynamics, and range, Xiaomi SkyNomad is designed to meet the core needs of family vehicle ownership—marking the opening of a new chapter in Xiaomi's automotive journey, the company said.
The launch offers two variants: the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max—Flagship 7-Seater Extended-Range SUV and Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max—5-Seat AWD Extended-Range SUV.
Keeping everyone protected is a priority for Xiaomi, with 12 airbags coming standard on the company's SkyNomad N90 Max, covering all three rows.

Talking about proportions, the SkyNomad N90 Max measures 5,285 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,825 mm tall, on a 3,080 mm wheelbase.
The N70 Max, meanwhile, measures 4,960 1,998 x 1,765 mm, on a 2,950 mm wheelbase.
They also sport a flat roofline to maximize second- and third-row headroom, as well as a continuous waistline that stretches the profile.
Users can also open the doors through touch or voice. Xiaomi said the units also have a 360° anti-collision system that uses AI to detect obstacles near open doors and can actively resist opening or sound a warning.
To assist entry of children and the elderly, the models have an optional electric side step.
Xiaomi said its N90 Series has 95 percent of high-touch interior surfaces that are soft-wrapped. Infants under 3 can touch every surface without risk of allergy or harmful substance migration.

Its front and second-row seatbacks use a 12-layer comfort structure for a "big sofa" feel. Front seats come standard with 16-point massage, ventilation, and heating; up to four zero-gravity seats are available across the trims.
The SkyNomad series also comes with the following exterior colors: Mountain Green and Valley Blue, alongside a classic Volcanic Gray.

Aside from the flexibility of front seats rotating to face the second row, the models can also be converted into a super-size bed for naps or overnight camping.
Xiaomi SkyNomad Series is designed for families with children, buyers seeking independent, flexible SUV interior space, and anyone looking for one vehicle to handle the whole family's needs—combining flagship chassis dynamics, comprehensive safety, an advanced intelligent ecosystem, and long-range efficiency in a single package, it said.
