REDMI 17 4G and 5G models now in PH: 7,700mAh batteries, durable build, and up to Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, starts at PHP 14,999

Apart from the Pro variants, Xiaomi introduces the REDMI Note 17 4G and REDMI Note 17 5G.

REDMI 17 Series

REDMI 17 series are official in the Philippines

Xiaomi has expanded its REDMI Note 17 series with two new models, the Redmi Note 17 4G and REDMI Note 17 5G, both positioned around long-term durability, battery endurance, and a refreshed design.

Both devices share the same design language and are available in three finishes—Celestial Purple, Sky Teal, and Black, each combining matte and glossy textures with metallic accents.

The phones measure 169.70mm x 79.14mm x 8.45mm, with the 4G model weighing 224g and the 5G weighing 225g. 

The display

Both models are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and carry an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, supported by Wet Touch Technology 2.0 for reliable touch response when the screen or fingers are wet.

Both phones feature a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with FHD+ 2396 x 1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1800 peak brightness, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The panels carry TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light and circadian-friendly viewing.

The two models diverge in their chipsets. The Redmi Note 17 4G is powered by the 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 octa-core processor with  Adreno GPU, paired with 4GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and  128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage options.

The REDMI Note 17 5G instead uses the 2.3GHz 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 octa-core processor with Adreno GPU, paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB configurations.

Both devices are equipped with a 7,700mAh silicon-carbon battery supporting USB-C 45W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging, allowing the phones to function as a power bank for compatible devices. 

Xiaomi states the REDMI Note 17 offers up to 2.62 days of typical use, while the Redmi Note 17 5G offers up to 2.54 days, along with up to 26 hours of video playback and 157 hours of music playback.

Both batteries carry a TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification and are engineered to retain at least 80 percent of their original capacity after roughly six years of daily use.

The cameras

The two phones share the same camera setup, featuring a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and 5P lens, along with a 16MP front camera at f/2.5. 

Dual video recording allows simultaneous capture from the front and rear cameras. Xiaomi's AI Creativity Assistant is included on both models, offering tools such as AI Erase Pro, AI Sky, and AI Image Expansion for photo editing.

Audio on both devices includes a 200 percent volume boost and Hi-Res Audio support. Security is handled through an in-screen fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock.

For connectivity, the two devices use WiFi (2.4GHz/5GHz), with the difference in 5G and 4G depending on the model. The vanilla Note 17 uses Bluetooth 5.0, while the Note 17 5G uses Bluetooth 5.1. Furthermore, the devices have GPS and dual SIM support.

Finally, both devices run on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and are backed by six years of security updates.
