Rumor: HUAWEI to launch a new sub-brand "Xingmang" or "Starlight"

HUAWEI may have a new sub-brand soon, 6 years after it sold HONOR to a consortium.

A new HUAWEI sub-brand for the first time in years is coming?

According to a China-based report from leakster Dingjiao Digital, the brand will be called "Xingmang," which translates directly to "Starlight" in English.

Based on trademark filings, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. applied for "Xingmang" trademarks as early as 2020 and 2023, which have already been registered. In July 2026, HUAWEI also submitted a new "Xingmang" application, now under review, covering electronic devices and communications-related categories.

If a " Starlight " phone is ever released, the brand is rumored to position it in the mid-range category. The devices are expected to feature its self-developed Kirin 8 Series chips, XMAGE camera branding, and HarmonyOS. 

The sub-brand may be launched later this month, though nothing has been officially confirmed by HUAWEI, and it is unclear whether it will ever be launched globally outside of China.

Note that this is just a leak or rumor as of writing. Details remain scarce.
