OnePlus 16 launched: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme 6, 9,000mAh battery, and 185Hz display

The phone comes in three colors: Tomorrow Starlight, which features an LED array, Martian Red, and Dark Forest. It comes with thin measurements of 8.50 or 8.55 for the Starlight colorway.

Additionally, it is certified with quad IP ratings, namely IP66/68/69/69K for dust and water resistance.

As the main highlight, it is the first smartphone to offer a global 165Hz refresh rate and includes three dedicated chips aimed at gaming.

Moreover, the refresh rate can also peak at 185Hz for extra-smooth viewing. OnePlus claims this mode supports up to 6 games at the moment and is set to have 17 more in the near future.

The display uses a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED, 1.5K 2772 x 1272 resolution, 1-185Hz refresh rate, and up to 2,000 peak brightness. It also has an In-Display fingerprint scanner.

Inside, it is powered by the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, paired with a P4 display chip, a G3 eSports chip, and a T3 touch chip.

For memory, the phone uses 12GB/16GB RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB storage options.

Another highlight is its 9,000mAh battery, supported by a 100W USB-C SUPERVOOC charger and 50W wireless charging.

The cameras

For cameras, it uses a 200MP f/1.6 1/1.4 OIS main sensor + 50MP f/2.0 116-degree ultra-wide + 50MP f/2.6 1/1.95-inch 3x periscope sensor with OIS.

The front camera is a 50MP AF f/2.0 lens that supports 4K 60fps video recording.

Others mentioned are stereo speakers and an upgraded gyroscope for precise movement tracking in games.

For connectivity, it uses WiFi 7 (2.4GHz/5GHz), 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, NFC, and dual SIM.

It runs on Android 17 with the ColorOS 17 skin on top.
