Huawei got the colors correctly on this scene and we liked that it has less grains. However, it is darker and has less details on the pollen and petals compared to the Galaxy S8+. Galaxy S8+ - 1 point

Super close match! Huawei's color preservation is simply amazing! It has slightly more details on the pollen, the subject. Samsung has more slightly more details on the petal part though. Both produced nice looking bokeh. P10 Plus - 1 point

Another close fight. Yes, Samsung got the brighter image on the S8+, but it doesn't mean that it is better. Huawei's P10 Plus preserved details and colors better on this particular scene. P10 Plus - 2 points

Details and sharpness are identical, but the Huawei P10 Plus got the colors accurately. Blues and blacks are simply deeper. In comparison, the image taken using Galaxy S8+ is yellowish. P10 Plus - 3 points

Scene 5 - Lowlight

Close fight again! Colors are identical. Huawei got the sharper text on the Shakey's logo. But the dynamic range produced by Samsung Galaxy S8+ is a tad better. Galaxy S8+ - 2 points

Details are identical again, Samsung got the brighter image. But, Huawei got the colors accurately. It doesn't have the reddish tint in the subject and background as well.  P10 Plus - 4 points

This is another example of the "brighter isn't always better" saying. Huawei over-sharpened and over-processed the image. As a result it is unnatural looking and has tons of grains. Galaxy S8+ - 3 points

Verdict

You cannot go wrong with both! The Huawei P10 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ are trusty point and shoot cameras in any lighting conditions for a smartphone. Huawei P10 Plus won by just a hair in our test as the differences are very minimal. It's that close!

Note: This is not a full camera comparison yet. The Huawei P10 Plus has tons of other modes for photography. It has the portrait, bokeh, monochrome bokeh, monochrome, night, and robust manual camera modes. On the other hand, Samsung also has a its own pro mode (though limited), excellent auto HDR, and has more options for shooting videos.
