Nokia And Apple Settles Dispute, Will Continue Collaboration

Under a new business licensing agreement collaboration agreement, Apple and Nokia have settled their previous dispute regarding patents and other matters.

Both companies have settled all litigation related to their intellectual property dispute and agreed a multi-year patent license. Nokia will now provide network infrastructure services for Apple. Apple will continue carrying Nokia digital health products under Withings brand before in both retail and online stores.

Nokia and Apple will also explore future collaboration in digital health initiatives. There will also be regular summits between top Nokia and Apple executives will ensure that the relationship works effectively and to the benefit of both parties and their customers.

“This is a meaningful agreement between Nokia and Apple,” said Maria Varsellona, Chief Legal Officer at Nokia, responsible for Nokia’s patent licensing business. “It moves our relationship with Apple from being adversaries in court to business partners working for the benefit of our customers.”

For now, other details regarding the licensing agreement remain confidential, but Nokia said it will receive an up-front cash payment from Apple, together with additional revenues.
