On the other hand, the newly launched Huawei Nova 2i has also made a lot of noise due to its rare quad camera setup. It has two cameras behind and two cameras in front. The two cameras in front consist of a 13 MP + 2 MP f/2.0 w/ softlight flash as well.
Both also have adjustable levels of beautification and portrait mode for deeper background blur and bokeh effect.

Scene 1 - Daylight auto
Close call! Details are about the same, but Nova 2i got the more realistic color tones. Vivo V7+ has reduced facial smoothing; however, the hue on my face is still pinkish. Nova 2i - 1 point
Scene 2 - Daylight Portrait w/ Face Beauty
Another close call! Nova 2i got the more realistic colors again, nicer skin tone cleaning, and contrast. On top of that it has the deeper background blur bokeh effect. But, despite the pinkish skin color again and the lesser background blur, Vivo V7+ delivered the more realistic looking background blur and skin texture. Vivo V7+ - 1 point
Scene 3 - Indoor Portrait w/ face beauty
Colors on the Nova 2i are on point again. However, the clear winner in this scene is V7+. Why? Bokeh effect doesn't look cartoonish and the details on my hair is slightly better. My lips are pinkish though. Vivo V7+ - 2 points
Scene 4 - Lowlight
Both did surprisingly well in this scene. The selfie captured by the Vivo V7+ looks a bit brighter than the Nova 2i. But, it is slightly oversharpened in my opinion. On the other hand, the Nova 2i did a decent job again in preserving details and colors. It is simply more natural looking. Nova 2i - 2 points
Scene 5 - Lowlight portrait
On first look, the bokeh effect produced by the Nova 2i is just WOW! Colors are also on point again. However, the edges on the subject aren't the clean looking. Vivo V7+ has nicer dynamic range, more natural looking background blur, and better details. Vivo V7+ - 3 points
Scene 6 - Super Lowlight Flash
The flash of Vivo V7+ is a tad brighter, but it is noticeably noisier and artificial in color. Nova 2i's front camera flash gave the better exposed subject w/ nicer details and colors. Nova 2i - 3 points
Verdict
It boils down to your preference! Why? Both phones are highly capable midrange selfie shooters.
Vivo V7+ showed why it is touted as one of the very best selfie phones in the market right now. On the other hand, the Huawei Nova 2i proved that it can compete w/ the best despite its lower price tag.
Go for the Nova 2i if you like more natural looking selfies on auto mode and w/ flash. Go for the Vivo V7+ if you preferred better beautified selfies w/ more natural looking portrait mode.
For selfies and groufies, you can't go wrong w/ both!
