The Elephone A4

Elephone, a Chinese smartphone maker, recently announced the Elephone A4, a notched handset with 5.85-inch 18:9 screen and HD+ 1440 x 720 resolution priced at just USD 99.99 (PHP 5.2K) via pre-order in China.

The next affordable smartphone with a notch that we know is the Vivo V9, a mid-range grade smartphone priced at PHP 17,990 in the Philippines.

Due to its very low price, the specs of the Elephone A4 is also far from high. But, the design looks interesting. It has a stainless steel frame ala iPhone X and a nice looking curved glass-like material behind.

Under the hood, it is powered by MediaTek's 64-bit MT6739 quad-core processor, IMG PowerVR GE8100 GPU, 3GB RAM, 16 GB expandable up to 128GB storage, and 3,000mAh battery w/ 2A charging.

It also has a Samsung-made 8MP f/2.0 main camera, 5MP selfie snapper, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE Cat 4 w/ VoLTE, and dual SIM slots. The phone boots with the new Android 8.1 Oreo OS as well.

Unfortunately, Elephone has no official local presence in the Philippines. Few years back, Lazada launched them here, but we never heard from them again after the launch.

Maybe some of the local phone makers like Cloudfone, Starmobile, and Cherry Mobile could use this as an inspiration to their upcoming devices.

What do you think guys?
