The dual camera setup of the lower-end ZenFone Max M1 is looking better than the primary cameras ZenFone Max Plus M1 despite the drop in megapixel size.

It simply has the better details, colors, contrast, dynamic range, and lowlight performance.

We enjoyed that it takes good HDR shots with decent focus speed. White balance of the primary 13MP shooter is also nicer than other ZenFones in this price point before. Dynamic range is still a bit lesser than some competing phones from the other brands in its class.

The secondary shooter is still lesser in quality. It has brigher exposure but colors are a bit washed and it has more grain. Dynamic range on the secondary 8MP wide shooter is lesser than the primary 13MP sensor too.

Selfies are quite good. It has good exposure, colors, and decent details. The face beauty mode is still very very aggressive, but it is tolerable for some. Moreover, the bokeh mode and lowlight selfie performance is better than the pricier Max Plus M1 again.

So far, the ZenFone Max M1 showed that it can compete with other camera phones at this price point.
