MediaTek to announce something big related to 5G at MWC 2019

A few days ago, MediaTek officially unveiled the Helio P90 in an event in Shenzhen China. It is a chip that is poised to provide flagship-grade AI performance on affordable premium smartphones next year.

However, unlike other chip makers, the Taiwanese semiconductor company did not announce anything related to 5G on the stage.

But, during the press conference. Key MediaTek officials revealed something interesting regarding 5G.

The first 5G SoC solution by MediaTek?

MediaTek will announce something big related to 5G at the upcoming MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Spain!

However, they are tight-lipped regarding the exact type of 5G announcement is it. It is safe to assume that it will be their game plan for 5G next year.

In case you missed it, MediaTek revealed the Helio M70 chip last November, the company's first 5G modem.

It is safe to assume that the announcement will be related to the company's first ever SoC with the Helio M70 5G modem. It could also be MediaTek's real flagship processor with 5G next year.

We also heard that their first 5G chip could be available on commercial devices late in 2019.

One thing is for sure. We are excited about it as it could be the 5G solution for more affordable devices.
