It is Facebook's way of asserting control over their divisions. Facebook said that the chat services will continue to operate as stand-alone apps.

But, the underlying technical infrastructure will be unified. For the first time, Facebook will allow its 2.6 billion users to communicate across the platforms. It is expected to redefine how people will use the apps to connect to one another.

Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief Executive Officer of Facebook has also ordered that all apps will incorporate end-to-end encryption.

Facebook also said that they want to build the best messaging services they can. People also want messaging to be fast, simple, reliable, and private.

As of writing, WhatsApp WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption on by default for all conversations. Facebook Messenger has end-to-end encrypted chats.

What do you guys think? Is this a good move by Facebook?
