Apple might follow Samsung's footsteps, might release foldable device in the future

New day, new rumors and leaks on a foldable device is in the works. Apple might join the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi in the future and release their own device with a flexible screen.

Apple might join the foldable phone party in the near future

On Thursday, Apple updated a patent with drawings of a foldable clamshell handset. CNET reported that it is a continuation of a patent originally filed in 2011 and updated in 2016 with a drawing of a possible iPhone with such screen.

There are two drawings which showed a clamshell form factor with a folding display inward and another on with outward folding.

Trifold design

It showed various ways of Apple of making bendable OLED screen. There is even an illustration showing a trifold design.

The patent showed that Apple is planning to make a foldable iPhone/iPad hybrid. And who knows, maybe there's a chance that it could work like a tablet or a mini PC with keyboard.

CNET added that there's no guarantee that Apple will release this device in 2019. But for us, it is still quite exciting.

Let us just hope that it is not too late for Apple in joining the foldable party yet.
