ASUS releases Max Shot and Max Plus M2 with new Snapdragon SiP 1 chip

In Brazil, ASUS released the first two phones featuring the new Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 chip, the ZenFone Max Shot and Max Plus M2.

The two phones are developed by ASUS Brazil team. Qualcomm partnered with Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) on a new semiconductor plant in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

A new chip designed to save space

The new SiP 1 processor brings all the major component in a single circuit. It is designed to save space for other components inside. Therefore, it will allow phone makers to develop more innovative designs.

GSMArena noted that its a 14nm chip that is identical with the Snapdragon 450 with 1.8GHz octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU.

The ZenFone Max Shot goes with a metal aluminum body with a 6.2-inch IPS screen, 3/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, microSD card slot, 4,000mAh battery, 12MP + 8MP + 5MP triple camera, 8MP selfie camera, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 4G LTE Cat 7, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, dual SIM slots, and Android 8.01 Oreo OS.

The ZenFone Max Plus M2 is similar to Max Shot. But, it doesn't have the triple-camera setup. It comes with a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup instead. It also goes with smaller 3GB RAM/32GB storage by default.

Both phones measures at 159.2 x 7.62 x 8.2 mm and will come in blue, silver, black, and red color options.

Price and availability

The Max Shot has a starting price of BRL 1,349 (around PHP 18.5K) for the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM model and BRL 1,549 (around PHP 21K) for the 4GB RAM/64GB variant. The Max Plus M2 retails at BLR 1,299 or around PHP 17.8K.

We are unsure if it will go official in other parts of the world yet.
