OPPO
Infinix
Samsung Galaxy S10+ is one of the best all-around camera phone in the world. But today, we will compare its low light photography capabilities with an unlikely challenger, the realme 3.
Galaxy S10+ vs realme 3 low light comparo!

Why unlikely? Realme 3 is a budget phone with a starting price tag of PHP 6,990. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ is a true flagship phone which starts at PHP 55,990.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ vs realme 3 Camera Specs

Device Samsung Galaxy S10+Realme 3
Back Camera 12MP (f/1.5/f/2.4) w/ Dual Pixel, OIS + 16MP f/2.2 123-degree ultra wide-angle lens + 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens w/ OIS, AF, and dual tone LED flash 13MP f/1.8 + 2MP f/2.4 w/ PDAF and LED flash

We compared them because we think that the realme 3 has a chance if it will use the Nightscape mode.

Nightscape is realme's own interpretation of night mode. With the help of AI, it allowed the phone take 3 seconds long exposure shots. After that, it will stitch the images into 1 bright and highly detailed images.

I want to also note that Samsung also has the Bright Night feature that works like the Nightscape. However, it will only work in really dark conditions. You cannot forcefully use it unlike realme's Nightscape.

Anyway, here are the shots that we compared!

Samsung Galaxy S10+ vs realme 3 Night Camera Comparison

Scene 1 - Night 1
The first image showed that Samsung got the brighter and more detailed image. It has less noise than realme 3's shot as well. Realme did a good job with light exposure control. Galaxy S10+ - 1 point

Scene 2 - Night 2
It's a closer match this time. Samsung got the image with more color pop and warmer saturation. On the other hand, realme 3's shot came with wider dynamic range and better details. It just looks a bit unnatural next to the S10+. Close call. Tie!

Scene 3 - Night 3
The output is clearer than the sun. S10+'s shot looks softer with oversatured colors versus the shot from its budget competitor. Realme 3 destroyed a flagship phone in this particular scene. Realme 3 - 1 point

Scene 4 - Night 4
Another close match. Samsung showed that it can capture more details with less noise again. But, we were surprised that realme's dynamic range can keep up. - Galaxy S10+ - 2 points

Scene 5 - Night 5
We can't figure out the winner again. S10+ has the brighter image with slightly lesser noise but with overexposed lights. Realme 3 got the image with better exposure control, but with a bit more noise. Tie!

Verdict

The final score is 2 to 1 in favor of the Galaxy S10+ flagship phone. There are 2 images where we couldn't determine a winner, so we gave it a tie.

Without a doubt Galaxy S10+ is one of the camera phones to beat. It comes with versatile triple cameras that is great for shooting normal, wide, and zoom photos or videos in nearly any lighting conditions.

But in this particular category of photography, we have to commend realme 3 for putting up a good fight.

We never imagined that a budget phone with PHP 6,990 starting price can somehow compete with the low light cameras of a PHP 55,990 high-end device.
