To compete with Google's Android

If true, it makes sense as Huawei's own OS will definitely need support from other mobile phone makers to compete with Google's Android.

Huawei Central also noted that if domestic (Chinese) phone makers will support HongMeng, it will set the foundation for its global expansion with the support of one billion users.

To recall, 3 among the top 5 global phone makers are Chinese brands. It includes Huawei (number 2), Xiaomi (number 4), and OPPO (number 5).

Huawei executive Shao Yang said that it is still a secret when will the new OS will be launched though.

Update: Huawei denied the news and added, "Any information to this effect would be released through official channels".
