Zero-cost AI training modules for teachers?

Google Philippines has officially launched the Google AI Educator Series in the country to support educators with practical, no-cost digital training.

The initiative introduces bite-sized, self-paced online modules ranging from 15 to 45 minutes, designed to integrate smoothly into busy teaching schedules while allowing participants to earn digital badges.

At the center of the initiative is a teacher-first framework that positions AI as a helpful assistant rather than a replacement for educators. The Google AI Educator Suite focuses on several key classroom applications, including building interactive learning experiences, providing personalized student support through Gemini features like Guided Learning, and automating routine administrative burdens such as organizing lesson outlines and drafting communications.

Additionally, the curriculum covers advanced research assistance via Gemini's Deep Research feature along with essential guidelines on data privacy, prompt engineering, and academic integrity.

To drive a nationwide rollout across basic, higher, and technical-vocational education, Google has forged strategic partnerships with major local government agencies. The Department of Education has integrated the series into its Bureau of Learning Delivery Hub, with plans for a formal nationwide endorsement via a Joint Circular that includes National Educators Academy of the Philippines accreditation for Continuing Professional Development credit units. Simultaneously, the Commission on Higher Education is issuing an advisory for Higher Education Institutions to adopt the program as a voluntary professional development resource, while the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority has embedded the modules directly into the e-TESDA platform to make future-ready training accessible to trainers and Filipinos nationwide.

Through these collaborative efforts, the rollout aims to lighten paperwork loads and foster responsible AI literacy, empowering educators to dedicate more time toward mentorship, creative pedagogy, and direct student engagement.
