Motorola One Action, a smartphone and action camera in one

Recently, Motorola's presence in the country went from 2016's high to little to none in recent years. The brand is, however, very active in the Western regions having released the Motorola One, the world's first "5G" smartphone, and other devices. Continuing its innovation streak, the brand has just rolled out an offering for a new breed of smartphone videographers.

The Motorola One Action is a smartphone that packs a lot of action. Its main highlight is an action camera on the back equipped with a 117-degree ultrawide angle lens and capability to record videos at 1080p/60fps. To capture motion effectively, its 16MP sensor utilizes 4-in-1 pixel binning and electronic image stabilization. The camera also records in landscape format even when it's held vertically for easy mounting.

The action camera by itself cannot capture stills, however, users have the other 12MP+5MP cameras for that.

While the Action One has the word 'action' as a moniker, it is not recommended for rugged use. Note that it is certified water-resistant with its IPX2 certification.

The Motorola Action One also features a 6.3-inch, 1080p IPS display at 21:9 aspect ratio, a 12MP selfie camera, Exynos 9609 chipset, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, microSD slot, 3500mAh battery, 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C port, and runs Android 9.0 Pie. It is also under the Android One program which means, users will get constant updates for at least up to 2 years.

It is priced at EUR 260 or approximately PHP 15,000. While there's no guarantee the Motorola One Action will ever reach our shores, it's nice to know that a phone like this exists.
