Smart taps Aboitiz-FTAP for common towers rollout in PH

Smart Communications signed a deal with Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. and Frontier Tower Associates Philippines, Inc. (FTAP) for the rollout of common towers across the country.

Smart partners with Aboitiz-FTAP for rollout of common towers in the country

After sealing the same memorandum of understanding with edotco Group Sdn. Bhd. and ISOC Infrastructure, Inc. earlier this month, PLDT's wireless arm tapped the tandem of Aboitiz InfraCapital and FTAP for the deployment of common towers, passive telco infrastructure and facilities nationwide.

Alfredo S. Panlilio, President and CEO of Smart, said teaming up with players in the tower sharing market would speed up its vision to deliver wireless services to more areas in the Philippines. 

Aboitiz-FTAP and Smart's partnership would focus on Visayas and Mindanao. 

By supporting a faster and more efficient roll-out of our LTE and LTE-Advanced network, and eventually, our 5G base stations, this collaboration will enable Smart to serve the public even better with faster internet and innovative digital solutions, Panlilio said.

Cosette V. Canilao, Aboitiz InfraCapital Chief Operating Officer, mirrored Panlilio's statement, saying the partnership would surely "ramp up the country’s connectivity through infrastructure."

Through these new common towers, Aboitiz InfraCapital, in partnership with FTAP, aims to build the right infrastructure that will advance business and communities, Canilao said.
