After months of rumors and leaks, Japanese giant Sony has just announced the new Sony Alpha 7S III full-frame mirrorless camera.
It features a new 12MP BSI CMOS sensor with faster readout speeds (to reduce rolling shutter), and with a native ISO range of 80 to 102400. The sensor is paired with the new BIONZ XR processor that can capture up to 4K/120p and 4K/60p video at 10-bit 4:2:2 with no line skipping or pixel binning, and up to 16-bit ProRes RAW video over HDMI out at up to 4K/60p.
Sony has included a newly redesigned AF system with over 759 phase-detection AF points that cover over 92 percent of the sensor. The camera can shoot 10fps continuously for what sony claims as "up to over 1000 consecutive uncompressed RAW images with full AF/AE tracking."
At the back is a 9.44M-dot OLED EVF and a 3-inch 1.44M fully-articulating touch LCD display. The camera includes a full-sized HDMI port, dual-hybrid card slots for either UHS-III SD cards, or the smaller-but-faster CFExpress Type-A cards.
Lastly, Sony has radically changed the menus that have been the biggest grip of long time users. This new Menu has a better organization and adds better touchscreen functionality.
