vivo TWS Neo Review - One of the best in its price category
Meet the vivo TWS Neo

The vivo TWS Neo is now official in the Philippines, more than two months after it was launched in China. It is now available in the country alongside the X50 and X50 Pro smartphones.

The new TWS earbuds are only available in a handful of markets in the world so we consider the Philippines to be lucky on the list.

We're now ready to share with you our review of the vivo TWS Neo. Let's find out why it's one of the best in its price category.

vivo TWS Neo arrives in a clean white box with a visual sneak peek of the product itself.

The unit loaned to team GIZGUIDE has the Starry Blue color printed on the box but it turns out that we got the TWS Neo in Moonlight White.

The package carries the following: the vivo TWS Neo earbuds inside its charging case, paper documents, warranty card, and a USB-A to USB-C cord.

Build Quality/Design

The TWS Neo is made out of polycarbonate material with a glossy finish. It is also IP54 dustproof and waterproof certified which means it is safe to use while working out, even if you're sweating.

As mentioned, we are loaned with the Moonlight White colorway and it's pretty a magnet to dust and hairline scratches so you need to handle it with extra care.

Out of the box, vivo TWS Neo looks very much like the Apple AirPods 2. The stem's size is also comparable with the AirPods. It has three-dot chrome-painted design at the bottom of each earbud which turns out to be magnetic (but don't worry, it's not that magnetic to the point that you can magnet things around you when you're wearing it).

It doesn't have any silicone ear tips but it doesn't easily fall off my ear.

The charging case' design features a round, lightweight design. It serves as the TWS Neo's charging dock, extra power supply, and pairing pod.

It has a flip-open design which prompts the LED indicator to lighten up. The USB-C port sits at the bottom part of the charging case while the pairing key can easily be found at the front face of the case with the LED indicator lying just above it.

Note that it does not support Qi wireless charging.

Both the vivo TWS Neo and its charging case are a fingerprint smudge magnet. I would like to note, however, that the hinge of the charging case feels like it's on the verge of breaking whenever it clicks and unclicks. But overall, it is lightweight, compact, and premium looking for the price.

Comfort/Isolation

Even if the TWS Neo does not have any ear tips, I can wear the earbuds without the fear of it falling from my ears.

When I tried shaking my head strenuously to dislodge the earbuds, they stayed put. During jogs and workouts, they felt secure and did not fall out.

Comfortable to the ears!

The moment I wore it, as expected, it didn't block out environmental noise since it has no any ANC feature.

Overall, vivo TWS Neo is comfortable in the ears and has nice isolation even if it has a kinda open design and the lack of ANC.

Battery

It has a total typical capacity of 450mAh battery

Each earbud has 27mAh of battery while the charging case has 400mAh battery capacity. Overall, it has a typical capacity of 450mAh battery.

I can easily enjoy vivo TWS Neo in my ears for more than 4 hours! However, charging it through USB-C is a little slow as it cost me around 1.5 hours.

Great battery performance!

As mentioned earlier, it does not support Qi wireless charging.

Features

Easy connectivity, thanks to BT 5.2
Easy connectivity, thanks to BT 5.2

I am an iOS user but it's not an issue because I have effortlessly connected the vivo TWS Neo to my Macbook Air and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I just need to turn on the Bluetooth in my devices, press the pairing key on the TWS Neo's charging case, and I see the LED indicator lighting up in white blinking and it's paired!

But if you own a vivo smartphone, it can easily find the TWS Neo with a quick prompt on the screen.

There's this 'slide' feature that I really like about the vivo TWS Neo. The Slide Bar is placed on the earbuds' stem. It is designed like a runway for the fingertips. I just have to slide my fingers down to turn the volume down and slide up to turn it up. Cool, right?

Double taps are for Google Assistant, phone calls, and music control. I can also easily reject or hang up call with the earbuds' press and hold feature.

It also has the following notable features: Find My TWS Neo, Intelligent Ear Detection,  and Touch Control Customization.

Each earbud works independently. Even if I remove one earpiece, the other earpiece still does its job to continue playing the music I'm listening to.

Connectivity-wise the performance is amazing. Bluetooth lag is nonexistent and it is very stable.

Even if I go around our house leaving my laptop or phone a few meters away from me, I didn't encounter any problem with the connection. Meanwhile, call quality is clear.

It has no ANC yes but it has an AI noise-canceling whenever I'm in a voice call.

Audio

AirPods 2-like design
AirPods 2-like design

vivo TWS Neo is equipped with 14.2mm moving coil driver and that's what to blame for the earbuds' rich audio quality. I am very pleased with the TWS Neo's sound quality given its price range.

We can't miss noting that vivo TWS Neo has aptX Adaptive technology, which retains 1.5x more sound data than traditional wireless earphones for a CD-standard HD transmission and DeepX stereo-sound effects.

I loved how Vivo TWS Neo was able to give me the details—be it music or lyrics of every song that I listen to.

Fuss-free, great audio quality

It has a decent bass with deep enough frequencies. As long as you get the proper seal, you'll enjoy rich tones with decent mids and highs.

It has a more balanced type of sound that is suitable for most listeners.

Pros - Quick connectivity due to Bluetooth 5.2, comfortable fit, crisp sound, stylish design, USB-C, battery capacity
Cons - No ANC, no wireless charging
