Globe to roll out VoLTE in Visayas and Mindanao this 2021

Globe announced its plans to roll out its VoLTE service to Visayas and Mindanao in 2021. This will boost the connection speeds in these regions.

Globe VoLTE is coming to Visayas and Mindanao

Globe will expand its VoLTE coverage to include the entire provinces of Cebu, Davao del Sur, and Davao del Norte as early as January 2021. VoLTE is short for Voice over LTE which is the standard high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones using 4G LTE for voice calls instead of 2G and 3G. This will become the standard once 2G and 3G becomes obsolete.

VoLTE has three times the capacity of 3G and up to six times the capacity of 2G allowing for more customers to place calls at the same time, enable faster call set-up, provide clearer voice quality, and lower instances of dropped calls. VoLTE also allows users to simultaneously connect to the internet while on a call and this provides an uninterrupted mobile browsing experience especially with online gaming and video streaming.

VoWiFi is also an added complement to VoLTE. This is also known as WiFi Calling which helps address indoor mobile coverage problems in services such as voice calls. 

VoLTE and VoWiFi calls will be charged just like a regular call but customers who are registered to a Globe unli-call promo can also have unlimited VoLTE and VoWiFi calls within the Globe network.
