Let's see how it performs out of the box!

Build Quality/Design

OPPO Reno4 Z 5G's back panel
|
OPPO continues to improve its build quality across its mid-range category. Even though the phone carries the Reno4 name, the camera module and back panel design is different from the original Reno4 from earlier this year.
Unique-looking square camera hump
It uses a glasstic material The back panel is just slippery and is a fingerprint magnet.
There is no mention of water resistance and glass protection.

|
In front is a 6.57-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Out of the box, the images are bright and vibrant while the text is crisp.
There is a pre-installed screen protector on the display with a cutout for the pill-shaped punch-hole.
|
Top and bottom side
|
On top of the Reno4 Z, 5G is a single microphone port while at the bottom are the speaker grill, USB Type-C port, microphone port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
|
Left and right side
|
On the left side of the Reno4 Z 5G is the SIM tray, volume up, and volume down button while on the right is the power button that doubles as the fingerprint sensor.
The SIM tray can carry up to two nanoSIM cards.
The phone measures at only 163.8 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm and weighs only 184 grams which makes it slim and lightweight. The curved back panel also makes the phone easy to hold but slippery as well. We recommend wearing the silicone transparent case from the box right away.

As of the moment

Immersive display with pill-shaped punch-hole
|
As of this writing, the Reno4 5G offers a stunning 120Hz FHD+ display with the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G SoC, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1, 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
With its price of PHP 20,990, it offers decent specs for its price and it is one of the few with 5G under PHP 25K, but the competition in this price segment is fierce. It will need to have unique features or it will need to excel in several categories to be the best possible option.
Out of the box, we like the build quality and the 120Hz display and we are excited to try its 5G performance, but we will have to reserve judgment until our full review that will be coming soon!
Stay tuned!
