Mi 11 will be the first to use Snapdragon 888

Xiaomi hasn't revealed many details about the Mi 11 yet, but the device is expected to be the company's top-of-the-line offering for the first half of 2021.

If the trend will continue, phones powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC will be among the most powerful smartphones in the world and it will debut on the Mi 11.

To recap, the Snapdragon 888 is the first 5nm chip by Qualcomm. It is also the company's first high-end SoC with a built-in X60 5G modem for the hopefully improved battery efficiency. To recall, Snapdragon 865 last year is 5G-ready, but it has a separate 5G modem unlike the Snapdragon 888.

Qualcomm has yet to reveal the full specifications of the 888, but the company said that this 5G chip has support across mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G bands, 6th generation AI engine on a Hexagon processor with a promise of huge performance (26 TOPS)/power efficiency jump, and the ability to shoot 120 photos per second using an upgraded Image Signal Processor (ISP).

Qualcomm said that it has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
