According to the Japanese analyst firm BCN Retail, Apple held a 15 percent share in the total sales in the country from August 1 to November 3, 2020. At that time, it was competing for third place with Lenovo.

Then last November 17, Apple launched the first Apple Silicon Mac Mini. BCN Retail saw a surge in the brand's PC sales. As a result, the Cupertino tech giant grabbed the number one spot in terms of sales volume. Reportedly, Apple now holds 27.1 percent of the market, with a total increase of 14.4 percent in just a week.

Apple's Mac lineup has had one of the best years in some time in 2020. This is possible caused by the changing needs for the new remote education and work-from-home environment during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In its Q4 2020 earnings report, Apple posted all-time record-high revenue for the Mac segment.

The 2020 Mac mini is Apple's first desktop with a revolutionary M1 chipset. This includes an eight-core CPU, eight-core GPU, and unified memory.

With the new chip, the Mac mini is able to deliver up to 3x faster CPU performance, up to 6x faster GPU performance and up to 15x faster Machine Learning workloads. It also brings WiFi 6 and support for up to a 6K monitor to the new Mac Mini.
