Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC with integrated X60 5G modem announced!
Qualcomm has just announced the Snapdragon 888 next-generation flagship 5G system-on-chip with a fully integrated 5G modem.

Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 888 next-generation flagship processor with an integrated 5G modem. Unlike the previous generation Snapdragon 865 that required a separate 5G modem, the Snapdragon 888 features a fully integrated 5nm Qualcomm X60 modem. Qualcomm claims that this jump to 5nm allows for better power efficiency and improved 5G carrier aggregation across the mmWave and sub-6GHz bands of the spectrum. This means that the integrated modem will hopefully improve battery performance significantly when using 5G.
Aside from the aforementioned improvements, Qualcomm also revealed that the sixth-generation AI engine that runs on the redesigned Qualcomm Hexagon processor promises a huge jump in performance (26 TOPS) and power efficiency for AI-specific tasks. Qualcomm did not specify the details but the Snapdragon 888's new Adreno GPU supposedly promises a significant improvement over the previous generations.
In terms of mobile-phone photography, the Snapdragon 888 is capable of shooting 120 photos per second at 12MP resolution thanks to the updated Image Signal Processor.
Qualcomm said that it also has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

The company will reveal more details about the new technologies on the second day of its Tech Summit.
Companies that are expected to use the new SoC for the next-generation flagship smartphones include Xiaomi, Samsung, LG, OnePlus, Sony, and more.
