Globe's 5G now covers 80 percent of Metro Manila
Globe said the company has already upgraded 884 locations in the capital, noting Bonifacio Global City, Makati and Ortigas Commercial Business Districts (CBDs) are nearing completion with coverage of 97 percent, 95 percent, and 97 percent, respectively.
San Juan, Pateros, Mandaluyong, Makati, Caloocan, Manila, Marikina, Pasig, and Quezon City are among the top nine cities with the most 5G outdoor coverage, it added.
We continue to invest on our network so our customers get to experience the many promises and opportunities of the most advanced technologies like 5G. With our aggressive roll outs, our network is getting closer to making the whole of Metro Manila 5G ready. Ultimately, our goal is to make the 5G experience as pervasive as possible, said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.
Globe is also deploying 5G sites in other key cities, like Cebu and Davao.
In a separate statement, Globe, citing data from Ookla, said the country's average speeds improved in December.
Last month, the Philippines' average mobile download speed was higher at 22.5 megabits per second (Mbps) compared to 18.49 Mbps in November 2020, with an upload speed of 6.03 Mbps and latency of 33 ms.
