Smart delivers a better mobile network experience in the Visayas

The telco said it led in video experience, 4G availability, download speed experience, and upload speed experience in the country, including in Central, Eastern, and Western Visayas.

In our first look at the Philippines at the regional level, Smart has walked away with the vast majority of awards, winning in 17 regions outright for both Video Experience and Upload Speed Experience—along with outright wins in 14 and 13 regions for Download Speed Experience and 4G Availability, respectively, OpenSignal said.

The network improvement, it claimed, has been witnessed even in remote areas like Linut-od, Argao in Cebu.

As the pandemic continues to limit people's movement, telemedicine's importance has been stressed as it allows patients to get in touch with physicians for healthcare concerns without the need to physically go to the clinic.

And quality network connectivity plays a crucial role in teleconsultation.

Telemedicine greatly benefits patients. I have patients who live in mountainous barangays, so through this, they were able to save their energy and money from traveling great lengths just get themselves checked, said Dr. Stanley Caminero, who operates a satellite charity clinic in Linut-od.

The pandemic has cemented the role of telemedicine in addressing the health concerns of the public. The power of technology has made it possible. The communication between the doctor and the patient is made convenient and updating has been real-time, Dr. Stanley added.
