A possible game-changer!

Why? Every year, the world's technology evolves at such a rapid pace. With the advancement of technology, this, in turn, creates electronic waste. This is a global issue and Framework is a company that aims to help in solving this problem by creating an eco-friendly modular concept for laptops.

The Framework laptop is an upcoming thin and lightweight computer that can be customized just like what a desktop can do. It will portray multiple modular parts that will allow users to replace them according to their liking.

The laptop can be made as pre-assembled or disassembled for those who find fun in the DIY process.

It will feature a 15.8 mm aluminum casing with a weight of 1.3 kg. The 13.5-inch display will have a 3:2 ratio and 2256 x 1504 resolution at 400 nits. It will carry a 1080p 60fps webcam and a 55WHr battery. The keyboard will have 1.5mm key travel and the laptop is said to be powered by either 11th gen intel core i5-1135G7, i7-1165G7, or i7-1185G7 Tiger lake processor and to be equipped with the Intel Xe graphics.

The interesting part of this modular concept is that the CPU/GPU combination isn't limited you will get at launch. The motherboard that houses the processor is upgradeable as well. This allows users to change it whenever there's a new part available.

On the side of the laptop, its expansion card system allows the user to change the ports. There will be options to choose such as USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, SD card, headphone jack, and more.

Aside from that, its keyboard, the magnetic attached bezel's color, internal storage, RAM, and WiFi card are made to be changeable. There is QR printed for the parts like the display, battery, and keyboard to make it easy to change by just scanning and find a replacement for the parts.

There will be a Framework Marketplace available to allow others to create and sell compatible modules for the laptops.

The Framework laptop will be pre-installed with Windows 10 home or Pro. Other details are expected to be released in the next coming weeks.

What's your take on this concept?
