Sony FX3 Cinema Line camera now official, features enhanced operability and cinema-look

Sony launched its latest compact and light Cinema Line camera. It is the Sony FX3 Full-Frame Camera with an improved cinematic-look and operability.

The most compact Cinema Line camera yet

The Sony FX3 Cinema Line camera is the most compact and lightweight of the series. It measures 189.7 x 77.8 x 84.5 mm while weighing only 715 grams. The small form-factor did not compromise the image quality and features packed with the Sony FX3. It even has five thread holes to easily attach compatible accessories. It has an XLR handle unit included that provides three additional thread holes for more accessories.

The controls were also made more accessible. Commonly used buttons such as ISO, iris, and white balance adjustment are located on the grip and top of the camera body. This makes one-handed operation possible and easier. It also has 15 custom keys that can be assigned with over 140 functions.

It features a 10.2MP full-frame, back-illuminated CMOS Exmor R sensor, and BIONZ XR image processing engine. It has 12.1 effective MP for photos as well. The ISO range covers from 80 up to 102,400 for photos and can be expanded up to 409,600 when shooting a movie. It has a wide dynamic range of 15+ stops. It can create 4K movies at up to 120 fps.

The FX3 offers Fast Hybrid AD by using the 627 points focal plane phase-detection system during movie recordings. It also has Touch Tracking that offers real-time tracking once you touch the desired subject on the touch screen. The focus is maintained with precision due the Real-time Eye AF.

S-Cinetone is also utilized with the FX3 just like the FX6 and FX9 Cinema Line cameras. S-Cinetone creates a cinematic look even before post-production enhancements. It is based on the color science of Sony's flagship VENICE cameras. 

For audio, the XLR handle unit includes two XLR/TRS audio inputs to the FX3. With an optional XLR microphone, digital audio data can be directly transferred to the camera for outstanding audio quality. Camera settings provide audio recording formats that include 4-channel 24-bit recording. Since the XLR adaptor is integrated into the handle and does not require any additional cables or batteries, it offers an intuitive setup process.

You can easily continue shooting even when running low on battery due to the FX3's USB PD fast charging support. It also has active cooling since recording 4K at 60fps can really heat up a camera. 

The Sony FX3 Cinema Line is compatible with several recording functions including S-Log3 gamma with S-Gamut.Cine color space. It also supports internal recording in XAVC S and XAVC S-I formats in 4K and FHD as well as XAVC HS. It also has an HDMI Type-A jack, two CFexpress Tupe-A card slots, dual-band WiFi, and Superspeed USB 5Gbps connection via USB-C.

Pricing and availability were not yet revealed but Sony assures the Filipino fans that it will come in PH soon.
