Gov't sets full implementation of StaySafe app

According to Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, the app is now ready to be utilized nationwide.

All problems with the mobile application have been fixed, Roque assured in a briefing on March 12.

There are no more problems with the StaySafe app. As of yesterday, all problems have been ironed out. Full implementation of StaySafe app within 10 days, Roque said.

He noted the end-user will be the Department of the Interior and Local Government since it handles the COVID-19 contact tracing efforts.

For local government units with their own contact tracing application, the national government has ordered that they should integrate their systems with the StaySafe.ph app.

This move is aimed at boosting the country's contact tracing initiative, which Roque earlier said was the "weakest" point in the government's COVID-19 strategy.

Last November, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases mandated the use of the application for national government agencies and LGUs.

StaySafe.ph is considered as the "government’s digital contact-tracing application of choice". Based on its website, StaySafe.ph is a contact tracing app, health condition reporting, and has social distancing system. You only need to register your mobile number. After the registration, you can now report your health conditions, including your family members.

If you're an app user, you will be notified about confirmed, probable, and suspected COVID-19 cases. This will allow users to avoid places with a high risk of COVID.

The Philippines has been under lockdown since March of last year amid the raging coronavirus pandemic.
