OnePlus issues statement over the Nord 2 unit that allegedly "exploded"

Recently, there was a report that a brand new OnePlus Nord 2 5G exploded inside the sling bag of a woman in Bengaluru, India.

OnePlus claims the explosion is an isolated case

According to the source, the spouse of the affected user posted the incident on Twitter just hours after to inform the public. Allegedly, the phone was bought five days ago before the explosion.

Twitter user Ankur Sharma reported that the OnePlus Nord 2 explosion took last Sunday when his wife had gone out cycling with the smartphone in her sling bag. He also posted three photos purportedly showing the exploded OnePlus Nord 2 5G.  The post reads,

All of a sudden [the] phone blasted and smoke started coming out of it. Due to this blast, she met with an accident.

OnePlus claimed that it already reached out to the said user and it was investigating the issue. The official OnePlus Support account on Twitter responded to Sharma's Tweet and asked him to communicate with the company over a direct message. 

However, it's not clear yet if they compensated the affected user for the said phone accident. According to a source, Sharma didn't respond to a direct message on Twitter asking whether he was reached out by the company for the compensation.

The company has issued an official statement about the explosion incident, regarding it as an isolated incident involving external factors". OnePlus explained,

Our top priority is the health and safety of our customers. We reached out to the concerned user immediately after hearing about this incident and initiated a thorough internal investigation. The results indicate that the damage to this device was caused by an isolated incident involving external factors and not due to any manufacturing or product issue. However, we remain in close touch with this user and have offered our support to address their concerns and ensure their wellbeing.

The company does not clarify what those external factors are in the statement. OnePlus continues to emphasize the fact that it adheres to the highest levels of manufacturing practices.
