Smart leads mobile space with more data users
Thanks to recent reports citing Smart as the fastest mobile network in the Philippines, the company increased its mobile data users to 39.5 million by the end of the first half, 18 percent higher than the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Globe—its main rival—ended the semester with 38.6 million mobile data users.
As many Filipinos have shifted their daily activities online over the past few months, we are glad that most mobile data users have chosen Smart for a much faster and more reliable digital experience – whether to connect with loved ones, work or study from home, avail of essential services, or to temporarily keep their worries at bay by streaming online shows or playing mobile games, said Jane J. Basas, senior vice president and head of Consumer Wireless Business.
Smart also boasted that its mobile data revenues jumped 12 percent to PHP 35 billion in the January-June period, still ahead of Globe's 7 percent growth.
The Pangilinan-led telco also claimed that its mobile data traffic hit a total of 4,460 petabytes since the pandemic, higher than its rival.
