Xiaomi Philippines has just unveiled the Redmi 10 for the local market. It features a large 6.5-inch LCD display with AdaptiveSync (45Hz/60Hz/90Hz) refresh rate and 2400 x 1080 resolution.

Inside is the new 12nm MediaTek Helio G88 octa-core processor, Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB of storage, and 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

It has a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide angle, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor with LED flash at the back while on the punch hole in the front is the 8MP selfie camera.

What makes this phone unique is the dual speakers on the top and bottom of the phone. It is also the most affordable with a massive 50MP shooter.

In the Philippines, the Redmi 10 starts at PHP 7,590 for the 4GB/64GB variant.

Let's dive in!

The new Redmi 10 comes in the familiar white box with the Mi branding, renders, specs, and key features.

Inside is the Redmi 10 smartphone, USB Type-A to Type-C cable, 18W charger, SIM ejector tool, silicone bumper case, and documentation. There are no included 3.5mm earphones.

Build Quality/Design

Redmi 10 Back Panel
Redmi 10 Back Panel

Out of the box, the Redmi 10 is premium-looking. It has a polycarbonate frame, a glasstic back panel, and a glass front panel. From afar, you couldn't tell that the frame is made of polycarbonate nor can you tell that the back panel is made from glasstic.

It is stunning for a phone priced under PHP 8K!

What was immediately apparent upon holding the phone is that the phone is somewhat slippery when held and the front and back panels are fingerprint smudge magnets.

As mentioned above, the screen protector with punch hole cut-out is pre-installed on it.

The SIM tray can house up to 2 nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. The tray does not have a rubber gasket which means the phone may not have water resistance.

The curved polycarbonate frame and curved back panel make the phone easier to hold. But because the phone's glass panel curves abruptly, the edges of the glass panel feel sharp when held.

We recommend wearing the silicone bumper case to avoid the slipperiness, fingerprint smudges, and sharp feeling sides of the display.

In front of the phone is the aforementioned 6.5-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2400 x 1080 resolution. Around the display are super slim side and top bezels. Only the chin bezel is THICC, but that's normal for phones this low. It has a punch hole on top and above it is a slim earpiece.

On top, is a microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, and one of the two speakers. While at the bottom is another microphone, the second of the two speakers, and the USB-C ports.

On the left side is the SIM tray while on the right is the volume rocker and the power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner. The volume rocker is made of polycarbonate and has decent feedback when pressed.

The phone measures 161.95 x 75.53 x 8.92 and weighs 181 grams.

At the back of the phone is a quad-rear camera made up of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor with LED flash. While on the aforementioned punch hole is the 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

Other features include Face Recognition (unlocking) and a fingerprint scanner. Both were easy to set up and works as they should.

The Redmi 10 is an eye-catching and premium looking smartphone. What makes it exciting is the dual speakers, 50MP main rear camera and that it is the first smartphone to carry the new 12nm MediaTek Helio G88 for the starting price of PHP 7,590.
AnTuTu score
AnTuTu score

The new Helio G88 managed to score over 219,698 in the AnTuTu V9.1.3 benchmark. What is interesting is that the phone's temperature only went up by 4.1-degrees with a 5 percent battery loss during the test.

Depending on the price, the phone may be a good contender for under PHP 8K. However, it is facing steep competition from the recently announced Cherry Mobile AQUA S10 Pro.

So far, we are excited to test the phone and see how it performs in real life.
