All-cash deal!

To give you a quick background, Activision Blizzard is the video games publisher of Call of Duty, Candy Crush, and Diablo. Microsoft said the deal will strengthen the company's hand in Metaverse. The company says it will be the "third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony" once the deal closes.

Upon close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog, says Microsoft’s CEO of gaming Phil Spencer.

Xbox Game Pass now has 25 million subscribers. Meanwhile, Activision's games boast nearly 400 million monthly active users. Soon, the American giant can publish Activision's popular games mentioned earlier as well as Warcraft and Overwatch.

We're investing deeply in world-class content, community, and the cloud to usher in a new era of gaming that puts players and creators first and makes gaming safe, inclusive, and accessible to all, says Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

To date, Microsoft is valued at more than USD 2.3 trillion, second only to Apple. The acquisition of Activision would make Microsoft the world's third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony, the company said.

Microsoft said in its press release that the deal is expected to close in 2023.

The deal is expected to close in [the] fiscal year 2023 and will be accretive to non-GAAP earnings per share upon close. The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, wrote Microsoft's press release.
