Community update announced!

According to the publisher, "The Contract" brought GTAV's story into modern-day GTA Online by allowing players to assist Franklin Clinton in setting up his celebrity solutions agency and tracking down hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre's lost, unreleased music, as well as a slew of new gameplay features such as Security Contracts, Payphone Hits, and the ability to step into the shoes of Franklin and Lamar for the Short Trips co-op story missions.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy the fun of Short Trips, players will soon be able to access Short Trips directly from the Jobs menu without having to complete The Contract's story missions. Official versions of Dr. Dre's tracks from The Contract are now available on your favorite music streaming service.

As mentioned above, the Grand Theft Auto V and GTA online will have new features on the next-gen consoles. This time, there will be new graphics modes up to 4K resolution, 60 fps, texture and draw distance upgrades, HDR options, and ray-tracing support. Additionally, there will be faster loading times, immersive 3D audio, platform-specific features such as advanced haptic feedback, and more. You may expect these updates starting March 15, 2022.

Players on PS4 and Xbox One who want to continue their journey on the latest generation of hardware can move their GTAV Story Mode progress as well as their current GTA Online characters and progression to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a one-time migration at launch.

Rockstar Games also said that there will be a standalone version of GTA Online for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Meanwhile, it will also be available for free for the first 90 days to PS5 users.

The GTA Online for the next-gen consoles also offers a number of improvements, including the opportunity to skip the story mode prologue before entering online, and an all-new tutorial. New GTA Online users will now have quick access to one of four illicit businesses—Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunne and significant GTA$ windfall to enable them to choose a property, high-end vehicle, and the weapons they'll need to have a good start on the video game. Returning players will have the opportunity to reset their characters at any time and use the Career Builder.

The developers also talked about what's next for the franchise and have mentioned that there's a new Grand Theft Auto series underway.
