What's in the box?
What's in the box?

First off, the OBSBOT Tiny is a premium PTZ webcam aimed at content creators and professionals. In terms of design, it does not look like a typical webcam. Since it is a PTZ camera, it looks more like an action cam since it allows for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom movements.
Premium build!
Premium build!

The build seems to be a mix of metal, tough polycarbonate material, as well as glass for the camera lens. It feels premium with substantial heft and rigidity. Our model came with a dedicated OBSBOT tripod, a magnetic clip for monitor mounting, as well as a USB-C cable. It also has an LED indicator in front when it is active which is pretty cool.

The USB-C and DC ports

In terms of ports, it has a USB-C port for power/data connection and an additional DC 5V/1A port if your device cannot supply enough power through USB-C. OBSBOT did not include a DC power connector though. It also has a 1/4-inch tripod mount for the included tripod we got.

The Magnetic mount included in the box clips on a laptop or monitor. It has a strong magnet which secures that OBSBOT Tiny pretty competently.

Performance

OBSBOT Tiny achieves AI tracking with an auto-frame using deep learning neural networks. It always maintains a steady and seamless tracking of you and keeps you framed front and center in all your broadcasts and movies. This is very ideal for streamers and those who are doing a digital presentation that requires you to move around.

It also has Gesture Control which adds more freedom in terms of operation. You can use gestures to select/deselect the tracking target and zoom in/out. This is a good addition and a responsive one on that. Put your palm up to activate AI Track mode and put an L sign to activate 2c zoom.

The OBSBOT Tiny works with the dedicated OBSBOT TinyCam app where you can fine-tune settings. Settings include Device Auto Sleep, toggles for Gesture Control, Tracking Mode, and more extensive Video settings. It also has more AI-powered features such as Auto-Exposure and Smart White Balance. The app will have controls for AI Tracking, Gimbal Reset, and options to add Preset Positions.

Diving into the Video Configuration, you get manual control for Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, Sharpness, Gamma, White Balance, Backlight Comp, Gain, Color Enable, and Anti-Flicker. You can also change Zoom, Exposure, Aperture, Pan, and Tilt.

For security, there is a manual Device Sleep button in the app as well.

Without the app, it functions as a bare 1080p webcam which is also good to know. The image quality is good with proper lighting. It starts to struggle in low-light situations which is understandable since it is still just a webcam.

It also has a swivel for following you with its Auto-Frame and AI-tracking feature as well as a 2-Axis gimbal to stabilize the video while tracking you. The camera itself can record 1080p videos at a locked 30fps. It has a 90-degree FOV, 2x zoom, and built-in dual omnidirectional mics with noise reduction.

Up your streaming and Zoom game!

During our tests, the video came out clear during our Messenger calls. The built-in microphone also picked out our voice very well which is very important if you do not have a dedicated mic. The Noise Reduction feature could be better though as it still allows a substantial amount of noise during calls.

The AI tracking and Auto-Frame feature are snappy and fast. Even when we went completely off-frame, the OBSBOT Tiny turned its camera and found me again. The tracking is also smooth due to the 2-Axis gimbal.

It has Headroom Mode, Motion Mode, and Standard Mode. Headroom Mode is for keeping your head in the frame. Motion Mode tracks faster which is for more dynamic movements such as in presentations. It is very impressive!

Our thoughts

Is it worth it?
Is it worth it?

The OBSBOT Tiny PTZ webcam is pricey at PHP 9,990, but reasonable. It is a very smart piece of equipment that is very valuable for particular people such as content creators and professionals.

While it has no 4K video support, this still offers a massive upgrade in terms of image and video quality versus the basic webcams of your laptop and other budget webcams for your PC.

What do you guys think?
